About ImmuPet
ImmuPet's success story began many years ago in Norway. Dr. Jan Raa, a world-renowned microbiologist, was looking for a way to save the Norwegian salmon industry from the constant barrage of bacterial infections they faced at farming facilities.
At the time, salmon were routinely treated with antibiotics to ward off infection. But antibiotics only achieved limited success because infecting microbes often quickly develop resistant strains. Dr. Raa discovered that beta glucan, if carefully and properly extracted from the cell walls of baker's yeast, could dramatically increase the salmon's resistance to infections without any of the negative consequences of using antibiotics because beta glucan enhanced the salmon's own natural immunities. So effective was this discovery that Dr. Raa began to produce his beta glucan, now internationally known as Norwegian Beta Glucan (NBG), to be used as a natural immune enhancing commercial feed ingredient.
Because of his sudden and profound success with NBG, Dr. Raa and his colleagues founded Biotec Pharmacon in 1991. It wasn't long before they were producing NBG in mass quantities. By 1995, demand was so great that Biotec Pharmacon recognized the need for global expansion and Immunocorp was founded as a North American marketing and distribution center.
Today, Immunocorp and Biotec Pharmacon are a worldwide success! Numerous scientific studies have been conducted with NBG at preeminent universities and research institutions including Harvard University, Massachusetts Institutes of Technology, and Johns Hopkins University. They confirm what Dr. Raa has known all along-NBG has the amazing ability to enhance and strengthen the immune system.
